First Lady Melania Trump held a summit at the White House as part of her Fostering the Future initiative that included a group of international first spouses. The conference was focused on empowering children across the globe through education and technology. Some of the discussions surrounded the use of artificial intelligence (AI)
Days before the summit, Mrs. Trump met with members of Congress to encourage legislative action on the executive order signed by President Trump to advance improvements in the U.S. foster care system. The order seeks to reform the system by “improving technology, increasing caregiver recruitment, and enhancing support for youth aging out of care.”
The first lady said during a roundtable discussion with members of the House Ways and Means Committee, “We are gathered here today, not because America’s children rely on us, but rather because America’s children are our moral equals. In safeguarding our children’s wellbeing, we shape the integrity of our nation… new legislation for the foster care community is a moral imperative.”
